2017 Events

IMG_2915We are all volunteers at Jack’s Angels, and couldn’t create our events without them.  A 501(c)3 public charity, we have no other expenses than cost of operation and fundraising events, and our donations to research.

Recap of 2017 Run the Rocks: pdf

Number one thanks goes to the Vasquez Rocks County Park and all personnel there who generously helped us create this event.  We had 143 runners taken care of by Sweet and Sour Bliss of Acton with their amazing food court, and the best trail mix ever.  Skycrest Signs of Santa Clarita, CA was our top sponsor with beautiful banners and signs along with Burbank Foley Stage, and then Canyon Country Dental, City of Hope, and Sandcastles Daycare were there with us in support that day.  Support also came from Frontier Toyota, Vons Supermarket, Costco,  and media sponsors Santa Clarita Magazine, SCVTV, KHTS Radio, and The Country Journal.  SCV Logistics and LA Golf Cars support made sure all of our competitors and walking enthusiasts were safe on a hot day at the Rocks, extremely valuable indeed.  Volunteers Brent Hoerner, Katrin Glasgow, Toi Bartone, and Kimberly Russo deserve special thanks for their generous initiative in announcements, managing food court, registrations and check-in, and the ROTC cadets with Sargent Bareng of Golden Valley High School.  You all made it happen; thank you–you are all Jack’s Angels!  Results:

Big Thanks to our 2016 Relay for Jack Volunteers

Our main event last May 28 was a success because of our amazing volunteers from the Acton Lions Club, Paraclete High School, Vasquez High School, AEA Elementary Partnership School in Agua Dulce, and Vasquez Rocks County Park!  Thank you!

Jack’s Angels gave $1300 to the “Jack’s 12 Pebbles” research project for DIPG at the Children’s Cancer Therapy Development Institute from the fundraising efforts of Relay for Jack!

Jack’s Angels is completely powered by volunteers, and our financial policy is–for our organization–Wing and Prayer.  We are a 501(c)3 Charitable Organization, and we are named for Jack’s initial supporters in the communities of Acton, Agua Dulce, and Santa Clarita.  Some of our most notable Angels have been:  Vasquez High School, Acton CA; The Agua Dulce Royal Court, Agua Dulce, CA; ADK Sorority of Orange County; and Reginald Marsh, engraver, Patron of the Year 2013 and 2014.  There have been many private donations for which we are enormously grateful; we could not continue our work without them!  To us, you are all Jack’s Angels.

AGENDA  Annual Meeting 11/21/2015

We are celebrating our two officers, Secretary Chris Graves and Treasurer Debra Lewis, who have completed their time with us.  So, we are looking for a new Treasurer and Secretary, and Public Relations/Media Assistant.  Relay for Jack is seeking sponsors, and help with outreach to local schools.

IMG_1937Hearts for Jack is always looking for volunteers!  These winged hearts are gifted in our care-packages to DIPG children and their families.  It is a fairly involved sewing project, taking a few hours of time and study.

Upcoming events:

“Skip for Jack!” continues at the Santa Colorita 5k Fun Run 2/13/2016!  The Planning Committee has begun meeting and is coming up October 13, 4-5pm at the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce on Tourney Rd. in Santa Clarita.  See Calendar for details.

“RELAY FOR JACK!”–5-28-2016–Monster Relay Race benefiting the “Funding Creativity Project”, pediatric biological research in neuro-oncology.  We are targeting DIPG, which has had a 0% survival rate for decades and is responsible for the majority of pediatric brain tumor deaths annually, brain tumors being the #1 cancer-related cause of death in children.  It’s time to find solutions for DIPG.  Most other big non-profit fundraisers for cancer research do not benefit pediatric research.

ART FOR JACK:  We will continue accepting donations to our “Art for Jack” art gallery.  We have been without online presence for the last 18 months, but we are looking forward to the opportunity to start an actual gallery to support this program, and to share the amazing contributions of art with which we have been blessed the last 2 years.  To submit a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other piece of artwork to our gallery, contact us directly at [email protected], or our office phone 661-977-3125.  Thank you!  ( At our RELAY FOR JACK event, there will be a tent in the children’s area for this program.)
