Vice President Biden\u2019s Cancer Moonshot Regional Summit\u2014LA at The Master\u2019s College 6\/29<\/strong><\/p>\n

Monday, June 20, 2016 Santa Clarita, CA\u2014<\/em>On May 25 2016, Vice President Biden announced the first-ever Cancer Moonshot Summit to take place on Wednesday, June 29th<\/em><\/strong>, including conversations in communities across the United States. These Summits will be the first time that individuals and organizations representing the entire cancer community and beyond \u2013 researchers, oncologists, care providers, philanthropists, data and tech experts, advocates, patients and survivors, officials and representatives \u2013 will all convene locally under the national charge to double the rate of progress toward a cure.<\/p>\n

Santa Clarita is the location for the Regional Summit welcoming the greater Los Angeles area; admission is free and the event has no other organizational affiliation than The White House.\u00a0 It is hosted by Janet Demeter and supported by Jack\u2019s Angels Foundation, a local charity concerned with awareness and research for pediatric brain tumors, the leading cause of death in children diagnosed with cancer.\u00a0 \u201cIf anyone needed a Moonshot, it\u2019s these kids with the deadliest cancers and their families,\u201d says Demeter, who hopes for a good turn out from the childhood cancer community; \u201cThey\u2019ve been expected to just accept that there is scarce research activity for their children because their relatively small numbers render their lives insignificant to investors, when most oncologists agree that if we prioritized them we\u2019d probably cure cancer.\u00a0 If you have strong ideas and feelings on your heart to share with the community and the Administration about moving forward to actually cure cancer, now\u2019s your moment; come share with us!\u201d<\/p>\n
