Though 2020 was a very challenging year, the childhood cancer community celebrated many hard-fought victories in November and December.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>These wins include:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>A 4-year extension of the Creating Hope Act, which incentivizes the pharmaceutical industry to develop drugs for children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>AWO-Funded Humanized Antibody Therapy Approved by FDA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Department of Defense\u2019s Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program includes pediatric and AYA cancers as a priority research topic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>$30 million to fully fund the Childhood Cancer STAR Act<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>$50 million to fully fund the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>While we are very thankful for these achievements, we also recognize that there is still a lot of work to be done. In addition to advocating for more federal funding for research, we will also be launching several unique projects and campaigns in 2021.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>These new initiatives will make more clinical trials available to children with cancer sooner rather than later. Less-toxic therapies are the key to defeating childhood cancer and we are determined to help accelerate the timeline.
