Res. 404 and legislation for childhood cancer\/disease.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DIPG Advocacy Group is not a legally incorporated entity, but a coalition or alliance (unofficial corporate body) of childhood cancer organizations and individual advocates supporting the National DIPG Awareness Resolution, which has had 3 Senate and 4 House of Representatives introductions on its pathway to success.\u00a0 It is not a law to be signed or a measure which authorizes funding; it has no lobby organizations or stakeholder corporations supporting its issue.\u00a0 It is a completely citizen-supported and originating resolution, written by lawmakers with parents to illuminate a long-lived tragedy in our society which has been obscured for decades, in part public narratives about childhood cancer dominated by corporate interests.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Re: founding organizations, Jack\u2019s Angels (Agua Dulce, CA) and Julia Barbara Foundation (Knoxville, TN)<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jack\u2019s Angels and Julia Barbara Foundation are 501(c)3 charitable organizations actively support the success of the DIPG Awareness Resolution in the House and the Senate.\u00a0 As such, they do not officially support authorizing legislation in the political arena.\u00a0 <\/span><b>DIPG Advocacy Group<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, however, includes other measures which support children with cancer and childhood cancer research in its advocacy efforts, and in its meetings with Congressional Staff and Members of Congress.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why lead with the resolution?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The DIPG Awareness Resolution originated with DIPG parents to help the childhood cancer awareness movement, and is a measure supporting the People\u2019s interests only, specifically to give DIPG and childhood brain cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children in the United States, greater public visibility.\u00a0 It has no other support for its success, whereas other measures we unofficially support have other parties working toward and investing in their success.\u00a0 We are the only driving force behind the progress in having the DIPG Awareness Resolution and its urgent message recognized; for this reason we cannot afford to compromise its importance<strong>*<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each measure supported has its own unique place of importance in the childhood cancer narrative and, in our advocacy efforts, we aspire to be inclusive, collaborative and equanimous.\u00a0 To this end we continue engaging in creative imagination and conversation for future measures to solve problems in the domain of childhood cancer research and treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Legislation AGENDA Fall 2021:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Primary: \u00a0Res. 404, a Resolution.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/files.constantcontact.com\/67d5ac34401\/c6e66e2d-edb8-4f60-b7c3-71e51c09d791.pdf\">press summary<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dipgadvocacy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/10-2021_DIPGAG_lettertoCongress.pdf\">Our Letter to Congress with Resolution TEXT<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>The DIPG Awareness Resolution<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is meant to be a <\/span><strong>*\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>&#8220;door-opener&#8221;<\/strong> to facilitate other urgently needed legislation which is often met with unfortunate resistance and compromise for this vulnerable population.\u00a0 As such DIPG acts as an ambassador for childhood cancers and deadly disease, raising awareness to the urgent, unmet needs of our children.\u00a0 It suggests that federal funding be increased for childhood cancer research, and that pediatric and high-risk cancers be prioritized for research funding into cures.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are other crucial pieces of legislation we support, and for which we encourage further conversation with lead advocates:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wexton.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=452\"><b>H. R. 623, The Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act 2.0<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, providing funding for the crucial Kids First Research and Data Program at NIH<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fitzpatrick.house.gov\/2021\/3\/fitzpatrick-gottheimer-stefanik-murphy-kelly-kim-herrera-beutler-evans-introduce-fairness-to-kids-with-cancer-act\"><b>H. R. 2210, The Fairness to Kids with Cancer Act of 2021<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;increases NIH\/NCI funding for childhood cancer research by setting a standard with census data.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/bipartisan-cancer-patient-equity-act-cpea-2021-hr5377-introduced-by-rep-butterfield-d-nc-01-and-rep-bilirakis-r-fl-12-advocacy-campaign-success-of-shepherd-foundation-on-behalf-of-rare-cancer-patients-301387072.html\"><b>H. R. 5377 The Cancer Patient Equity Act of 2021<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ensures equality for cancer patients to receive molecular diagnostics and targeted therapies, through Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Awareness Campaign Agenda for H.
