John Beltzer, CEO and Founder of “Songs of Love” Foundation shares with Childhood Cancer Talk Radio the personal inspiration behind the Foundation, based in New York City. As a way of providing sick children with an ongoing source of comfort and joy, and a therapeutic tool for healing, he set out to create personalized, one-of-a-kind songs for them beginning in 1996.
The Songs of Love Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which creates personalized songs for children and teens struggling with a life-threatening illness or lifetime disability, free of charge. Each song is professionally produced with lyrics containing the child’s name, references to his or her favorite activities, things, people, and pets, and written and performed by a variety of talented professionals in the child’s preferred musical style (pop, r&b, rap, rock, alternative, etc). The song is delivered to the child via custom USB drive with an accompanying lyric booklet.
Songs of Love is dedicated to the memory of John’s twin brother Julio who wrote and recorded the composition ‘Songs of Love’ just two months before he died on April 12, 1984.
