“Just Say It!”—the Run for a National Day for DIPG, run #2 of 4 is this Sunday in Los Angeles.

Most of the cases on the news this year of terminally diagnosed children have been DIPG, but no one knows it…

Wednesday, September 2, 2015 Santa Clarita, CA—Event #2, the LA Beach Run of the “Just Say It!”—DIPG, the Run for a National Day begins this Sunday Sept. 6 at 10am at Venice Beach Pier, finishing at the Santa Monica Pier.  The event raises awareness for DIPG, responsible for most of the pediatric brain tumor deaths each year.  As September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Janet Demeter of Jack’s Angels Foundation in Santa Clarita, CA, has created a four-run series in her personal quest for a National Awareness Day for DIPG.  It began last Sunday in Santa Clarita and continues this Sunday in the LA Beach Run, followed by a run at the State Capitol in Sacramento on Sept. 12, with the final run in Washington DC on September 19.

“For too long, families have had to watch and wait in terror as their child disappears from this world, after a DIPG diagnosis.  With no progress in over 35 years, it’s high time for this to change,” states Demeter, who lost her son Jack to the disease in 2012.  “Most of the cases on the news this year of terminally diagnosed children have been DIPG, but no one knows it.  Lauren Hill was honored this year for her bravery at the ESPY Awards in LA, yet the monster she fought was never mentioned.”  The silence around DIPG is uncanny to those who are aware of its devastation.  For more information about this event, visit www.runforDIPG.org.
