CENTER STAGE OPERA and Jack’s Angels Foundation Present:
OUR REHEARSAL LOCATION HAS CHANGED– Acton Mainstage, MPR Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District, 32248 Crown Valley Rd, Acton, CA 93510
A wonderful idea is coming to fruition! We are collaborating with Center Stage Opera to develop, beginning Fall 2014, the beginnings of a versatile children’s choir with strong fundamental musicianship training, vocal technique, ensemble values, and familiarization with a variety of musical genres, including opera, of course. Area of service includes the Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District, Santa Clarita Valley, and the Antelope Valley. We are very fortunate to have a community opera company like Center Stage Opera, a unique cultural resource and support for emerging young artists. For more information, visit: www.centerstageopera.org This project follows Jack’s Angels commitment to supporting the arts for children in the local community in raising awareness for our cause.

Schedule
This consists of two 12-week sessions, Session I beginning Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 4:30-6pm at our “Acton Mainstage” 32248 Crown Valley Rd, Acton, CA 93510, at the Crown Valley exit off of the 14 freeway. Workshops will meet weekly on Wednesdays at the same time.
Performances
The full schedule of workshops for Sessions I and II is on the registration form above. There will also be a minimum of three performances for the choir in its first year. Most notably will be Center Stage Opera’s production of Carmen, by Georges Bizet, on June 6, 7, and 14, 2015 at the Madrid Theatre in the San Fernando Valley. For Winter 2014-15, the choir will sing a program of Christmas and Holiday Carols in December, and a Spring program for the “Art for Jack” Children’s Art and Music Festival on Sunday, May 3, 2015, location information to be announced in February 2015.
“The plan is to have the choir become an integral part of the Opera Company, the repertoire of which includes opera as well as Broadway and jazz; they are committed first and foremost to quality and support of emerging young artists,” remarked Janet Demeter, founder of Jack’s Angels Foundation. “The choir project follows our desire to be a supporter of the arts and education for the children in our community; it’s a unique opportunity to have an amazing community opera company as a resource in your own back yard. We are fortunate to avail ourselves of this for our children to be exposed to great music, making great music, and having the opportunity to perform in a professional setting.”
The projected, ideal number of singers is 16, though the number may be anywhere from 8 to 20. Demeter continued,”We really don’t know what to expect, or if the community even desires such a thing, but hopefully for those of us who do, we’ll have a blast!” More information about the choir is downloadable above, and Jerry Brown, General Director of Center Stage Opera can be contacted at 818-517-4102, or www.centerstageopera.org.
